Our Second Hills Style Market at Cherrybrook
On October 3rd, Saturday, we held our second Hills Style Market at the Cherrybrook Community and Cultural Centre. The banner was back on the stairs, the doors opened onto a hall already filling with racks and tables, and by mid-morning the floor was busy with local makers, shoppers and neighbours who came ready to stay a while.

A hall full of makers
From the mezzanine the room stretched wall to wall. Clothing racks ran down the aisles, tables of handmade goods lined the edges, and a steady stream of people moved from stall to stall. It was the same Cherrybrook hall as June, only this time it felt like the market had found its crowd.
A crochet stall stopped people in their tracks. Bees, frogs, mushrooms and a bright yellow one-eyed character sat out in rows, each one stitched by the maker standing just behind the display. It was the kind of table you circle twice before you pick one up.
Against the brick wall, a tarot reader laid cards across a black-and-white cloth while visitors sat down for a reading in the middle of a busy hall. A little further on, beside the stage, an ear-acupuncture stall offered a quieter pause between the racks.
One table was given over to sculptures built from things most people throw out. A noodle cup with chopstick arms, cork figures and little robots made from screws and tins, each one priced and ready to take home.
Handmade jewellery drew people in close. Knotted cord earrings with a pearl finish sat beside tiny origami cranes, the kind of piece you turn over in your hand before you decide to take it home. Around them, racks of pre-loved fashion kept a crowd in the aisles all afternoon.
Moments from the Day

Thank you
To every stallholder who set up a table, every maker who shared their work, and every visitor who came through the doors, thank you. Thank you also to the Cherrybrook Community and Cultural Centre for hosting us again, and to everyone who helped organise, set up and spread the word. Our second market was fuller because of you.
Two markets in, Cherrybrook has made this hall feel like home for local makers, artists and small businesses. We can't wait to do it again.
